Abstract
The current investigation studied the attitudes and motivation of the pupils of High School Ahmed Mangué of Sarh II, academic year 2025-2026. It sought the types of motivation that characterized the pupils of the institution mentioned above. Data were collected from 180 pupils of Scientific Lower and Upper Sixth of High School Ahmed Mangué of Sarh II. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire. The results revealed that participants (83.34%) have positive attitudes towards English classes and they were instrumentally motivated in English learning. 100% of participants justified their interest in English by the envy to correctly communicate with native speakers of English. However, those pupils experienced difficulties that hindered their motivation. To increase the motivation of those learners, participants’ parents should support their progenies sending them to English language centers in order to reinforce what they have learned in school. In addition, English teachers are advised to privilege discussion and pair work in classrooms.
